Day 5 - Museum of the Age of Fishes

At 10:30 this morning, we entered the Museum of the Age of Fishes. This museum is dedicated to the fish fossils from a find near Canowindra in 1993. These fossils are over 360 million years old, from the late Devonian Period. In the Devonian Period, Australia was simply one huge salt lake! First thing to do in the Museum: walk the Geographical Time Walk. This walk told the story of what the Earth looked like during each Period of each Era. It also showed what some of the animals looked like back then.
Once we finished the Time Walk, we moved on to a room which actually contained the fossils. The fossils were surprisingly clear, and there were imprints of all sizes and shapes.
And in the final room, there were screens with animations of how the animals hunted and moved, and also showing some colour. There were displays of Canowindrian history (again, I'm not sure whether that's a thing), and displays of what Canowindra would have looked like if the lake hadn't dried out.
Then, after exiting the Museum, we walked to the old Train Station. There we could still see two silos, a water tank, a warehouse and the station building.

The sign on one of the silos - spoooooky...
